Dr. Cold is an experienced music educator, with over 25 years of experience as a private instructor. 12 years as a clinician and 10 years of experience teaching in higher education.

Below are some of my ideas regarding effective musical instruction:

- Mutual respect between the teacher and the student is crucial.
- Knowledge does not simply flow from teacher to student; rather, my job is to teach you to teach yourself.
- Music is a creative and expressive art. Creativity and expression need to be present from the very beginning, even when playing scales.
- Music is a physical activity, one that requires good posture and freedom of movement.
- Five minutes spent learning a good habit is worth five hours spent undoing a bad one.
